The Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation. This initiative highlights the growing global cooperation to tackle maritime sustainability challenges through knowledge exchange and innovation.

Key Details of the MOU

  • The MOU was signed on 25 March 2025 during the State visit of Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, to Belgium.

  • Signatories:

    • Mr. Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO, Port of Antwerp-Bruges

    • Mr. Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive, MPA

  • The exchange of the MOU was conducted by:

    • Mr. Johan Klaps, Vice-Mayor (for the Port and Economy) of Antwerp & President of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges Board

    • Mr. Lim Hong Huai, Singapore’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands

Objectives of the Collaboration

The MOU establishes a framework for both ports to:
