In a major milestone for sustainable shipping, the Port of Gothenburg successfully carried out its first LNG bunkering operation for a cruise vessel. The recipient was RC Ilma, a 241-metre mega yacht operated by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, during its maiden call to the Swedish port.
Dual-Fuel Vessel with Eco-Friendly Technology
RC Ilma is equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of operating on LNG and marine gas oil (MGO). It also features advanced water treatment systems, helping reduce its impact on marine ecosystems and reinforcing the cruise line’s commitment to sustainability.
Collaborative LNG Bunkering Effort
The bunkering operation was carried out by Sirius Agency using the LNGC Coralius, with Gasum supplying the LNG. The port emphasized that this achievement reflects years of infrastructure investment and strong industry collaboration to promote cleaner marine fuels.
With this successful operation, the Port of Gothenburg demonstrates its readiness to support next-generation cruise vessels and contribute to the global shift toward greener maritime operations.
