Port of New Orleans President and CEO Beth Branch has been authorized to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with five Lower Mississippi River ports to develop a unified marketing strategy in partnership with Polaris Analytics & Consulting, L.L.C. The collaboration includes the Port of New Orleans, Port of South Louisiana, Port of Greater Baton Rouge, St. Bernard Port, and the Louisiana Gateway Port at Plaquemines Parish. Together, the ports aim to promote Louisiana’s maritime gateway and enhance the state’s position in the global market.
Branch emphasized that the CEA is not just a marketing effort, but a long-term commitment to cooperation and shared vision among the ports. She noted that speaking with one strong voice would help position Louisiana as a leader in trade and logistics. This initiative also aligns with Governor Jeff Landry’s Louisiana Ports and Waterways Investment Commission, which is working on a strategic plan and targeted investment program for the state’s maritime future.
Former Port of New Orleans Board Chairman Joseph Toomy highlighted that unity has always been the key strength of Louisiana’s maritime industry, describing the agreement as a turning point for the region. With support from Polaris, the ports will implement a data-driven and stakeholder-informed strategy to showcase the collective system, attract infrastructure investments, stimulate economic growth, and create jobs across South Louisiana.
Earlier in the year, the Port of New Orleans secured a $1 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for its Louisiana International Terminal Sustainability Management Plan.
