  • PortXchange has won the European DIGITAL SME Award – Green Category for its EmissionInsider platform.
  • The award recognises digital innovations delivering measurable environmental impact.
  • EmissionInsider enables end-to-end visibility of port-related emissions across all transport modes.
  • The platform is already in use at major ports, including Rotterdam and Belfast.

PortXchange has been recognised at the European level for its contribution to port decarbonisation, winning the European DIGITAL SME Award – Green Category for its EmissionInsider platform. The award highlights the growing role of digital, data-driven solutions in helping ports measure, manage, and reduce emissions as regulatory pressure and climate commitments intensify across the maritime sector.

Recognition at a European Innovation Forum

The award was presented to PortXchange at the European DIGITAL SME Summit, held in Brussels on December 4, 2025. The company was selected from a highly competitive field and was one of only three organisations shortlisted in the Green Category.

The DIGITAL SME Awards are among Europe’s most competitive innovation recognitions, with winners chosen by a jury of experts spanning technology, policy, and sustainability. The Green Category specifically celebrates digital solutions that deliver tangible environmental benefits.

EmissionInsider: Bringing Clarity to Port Emissions

EmissionInsider stood out for its ability to provide ports with comprehensive visibility of transport-related emissions. The platform captures emissions data across sea-going vessels, barges, trucks, and rail, consolidating this information into a single, transparent system.

By replacing fragmented and inconsistent reporting practices, the platform enables ports to access granular, comparable emissions data, supporting more accurate analysis and effective emissions reduction strategies.

Supporting Data-Driven Port Decarbonisation

Already deployed at ports such as Rotterdam and Belfast, EmissionInsider supports informed decision-making across multiple operational areas. Ports can use the platform to:

  • Enable standardised emissions reporting
  • Identify and prioritise decarbonisation investments
  • Support initiatives such as shore power deployment
  • Prepare for tightening emissions-reporting requirements

As expectations around air quality and environmental performance continue to grow, reliable emissions data is becoming a core operational requirement rather than a compliance add-on.

Industry Voices on the Award

Accepting the award, PortXchange’s leadership highlighted the increasing importance of actionable emissions intelligence for ports worldwide. Company representatives noted that while ambition for decarbonisation is widespread, access to consistent and trustworthy data remains a key challenge for many port authorities.

The recognition reflects PortXchange’s work with ports to bridge this gap and create a practical foundation for real-world emissions reduction.

Global Growth and Future Developments

The award comes amid strong global growth for PortXchange, with expanding collaborations across Europe and the Americas. More ports are now treating emissions management as a strategic priority, rather than solely a regulatory obligation.

As a certified B Corp, the company continues to scale digital tools that support transparency and measurable emissions reductions across global port communities.

Looking ahead to 2026, PortXchange plans to expand EmissionInsider’s capabilities, including:

  • Enhanced emissions forecasting
  • Multimodal emissions benchmarking
  • Deeper integration with port community systems

These developments aim to further accelerate decarbonisation efforts across the global port ecosystem.
