Six Ukrainian seamen, previously taken hostage by pirates in Nigerian territorial waters, were released Saturday, according to a confirmation by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, says an article published in menafn.
What Happened ?
The president voiced thankfulness to Ukrainian officials and every person who had helped in the sailors’ freedom.
Zelensky wrote on his Instagram account, “Our citizens are safe and we expect their return to their homeland soon.”
On Dec. 16, pirates attacked the ship, Stevia, off the coast of Nigeria, kidnaping a crew of eight, including six Ukrainians.
