PSA and CCN’s New AI-Powered Platform Promises Faster and Smarter Multimodal Logistics

PSA Singapore (PSA) and Cargo Community Network (CCN) have launched a new digital platform called OptEModal to improve sea-air intermodal transhipment. This platform is designed to tackle long-standing issues in multimodal logistics by making cargo transfers faster, smarter, and more coordinated.

Key Features and Benefits

OptEModal is an intermodal shipment management platform that provides a “digital corridor” for seamless cargo movement between a vessel and an aircraft, aiming for completion within 24 hours of arrival. Its core capabilities include:

  • Real-time data integration: The platform brings together data streams from PSA’s terminals in Singapore, as well as from ground handlers and airline partners.
  • Multi-party visibility: This allows various stakeholders across the supply chain to track shipments and manage potential risks during transfers.
  • AI-powered predictions: The platform uses artificial intelligence to predict estimated times of arrival (ETAs) and proactively identify potential delays.
  • Smart recommendations: It offers smart flight recommendations to help shippers and logistics providers reduce costs and complexity.

By bridging the maritime and air cargo sectors, OptEModal aims to support time-critical and high-value industries like electronics, healthcare, and e-commerce.

Strategic Collaboration and Future Outlook

The platform was co-created with input from various stakeholders in the maritime and air cargo industries. PSA’s Head of Port Ecosystem Business for Southeast Asia, Ms. Seow Hwee, stated that the initiative leverages Singapore’s position as a major international maritime and air cargo hub to enhance partnerships and provide greater efficiency and reliability. The CEO of CCN, Mr. Adrian Goh, noted that OptEModal empowers the logistics community with real-time intelligence and data-driven insights. The companies see the platform not just as a new tool but as a blueprint for the future of global logistics, where interconnected networks drive efficiency and resilience.
