PSA BDP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dow Chemical International to launch a first-of-its-kind sustainable transportation solution in India, says an article published on Container-news.

Innovative zero-emission transport solution

Beginning in 2024, PSA BDP will deploy electric vehicles for import and export container trucking through PSA International’s Mumbai, Ameya, and other terminals to Dow India’s facilities.

PSA Mumbai’s 6.25MW Open Access Solar Plant, which is scheduled to be operational later in 2023, will power the trucks. This innovative zero-emission transport solution is unique to the Indian market and will result in an integrated and eco-friendly combination of PSA BDP services that provide increased flexibility and connection for Dow India and other PSA customers who are seeking more eco-friendly solutions, according to a statement.

New transport solution

Furthermore, PSA BDP has invested in a fleet of electric vehicles from a truck manufacturer in the region to be utilised for this programme and additional client partnerships in preparation for the introduction of this new transport solution.

In addition, the vehicles can transport a fully loaded container for up to 200 km, leading to a decrease in annual carbon emissions of nearly 300 tonnes when compared to diesel counterparts.
