Purus has placed an order for two 45,000 cbm dual-fuel ammonia-ready medium-sized gas carriers (MGCs) from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, scheduled for delivery in 2027. Upon their arrival, Purus will operate one of the largest ammonia transport fleets globally, with nine vessels, including three currently in operation and four set to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.
Advancing Ammonia Transportation Capabilities
Purus’s new vessels will feature an advanced cargo handling system that maximises loading and unloading efficiency. This innovation will reduce turnaround times at port, providing significant time and cost savings for customers and further showcasing Purus’s commitment to operational excellence.
Commitment to Clean Energy
The fleet expansion underscores Purus’s dedication to sustainable ammonia transport. The company’s ongoing Purus-Bluewater initiative, which focuses on Clean Energy Floating Storage and Offloading (Clean Energy FSO) solutions for low-carbon ammonia, hydrogen, and carbon capture utilization, positions Purus as a leader in clean energy transport.
