Launched of Regional Guide 2
The ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) in collaboration with the Working Group comprising representatives from the Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA), Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), INTERTANKO, Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) has launched “Regional Guide 2 to Counter Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia”.
Aim of this guide
The aim of this guide is to provide ship masters, crew and members of the shipping community with information on the types of piracy and armed robbery against ships incidents that occurred in Asia after the launch of the first version of the Regional Guide in 2016, revised recommendations on risk/threat assessment and preventive measures, and the updated contact details of the relevant agencies.
The Regional Guide 2 includes updated information such as the modus operandi for the different types of perpetrators and contact details of the relevant agencies.
It is designed to assist ship owner/operator/master and crew operating in Asia to adopt the appropriate measures to avoid, deter or delay attacks, and prevent unauthorized boarding.
