A ro-ro ship broke away from its moorings due to strong winds and heavy storm.
What happened?
The ro-ro cargo ship Grande Senegal broke moorings at Gibraltar harbour under the strong wind and heavy storm.
The vessel started to drift in the harbour and was pushed by gusts of wind on to the shipping way.
The accident was reported to the local authorities and they dispatched tugs and pilot boat to the scene of the accident.
The rescue teams provided assistance to the ro-ro cargo ship Grande Senegal and it was towed back to the berth. In less than an hour, the situation was brought under control and the vessel was secured again at the pier.
During the accident, there were no reported damages and no collision with nearby ships in Port of Gibraltar.
The local authorities ordered special survey and inspection of the vessel before releasing to return in service.
