  • Three vessels by Strategic Marine exceed 53 knots, the fastest offshore supply vessels globally.
  • Powered by four mtu Series 2000M72 engines, delivering 5,760 kW each.
  • Surface Effect Ship (SES) design minimizes drag using air-cushion technology.

Strategic Marine, a leading Singapore-based shipbuilder, in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, has redefined the offshore supply vessel sector with the introduction of three high-performance vessels. Designed for passenger transfers to offshore platforms and FPSOs in Africa, these ships, powered by Rolls-Royce’s advanced mtu engines, showcase unparalleled advancements in speed, efficiency, and innovation.

Power and Speed Redefined

The vessels’ record-breaking speed is attributed to their advanced propulsion system. Equipped with mtu Series 2000M72 engines from Rolls-Royce, each vessel achieves speeds exceeding 53 knots. The engines’ superior power-to-weight ratio ensures rapid transit times without compromising fuel efficiency or emission standards.

Innovative Technology in Action

The 35-meter-long ships feature a Surface Effect Ship (SES) design, which incorporates air-cushion technology within a catamaran hull structure. This innovative approach reduces water resistance and hull drag, enabling higher speeds and smoother operations compared to conventional monohulls and catamarans.

Transforming Offshore Operations

The combination of SES technology and the mtu propulsion package delivers exceptional performance and operational reliability. With maintenance intervals exceeding 12,000 hours, these vessels offer long-term efficiency. As noted by Strategic Marine CEO Chan Eng Yew, the ships effectively minimize resistance and maximize cruising and top speeds, setting a new benchmark for offshore crew transfer vessels.

Looking Ahead

Strategic Marine’s cutting-edge SES vessels are a milestone in offshore supply technology, blending advanced engineering with environmental sustainability. These high-speed ships pave the way for improved operational efficiency, safety, and environmental performance in the offshore oil and gas industry.
