RoPax Ferry On Flames In Greece

In the evening hours of July 14, a RO Pax ferry Evgenia P caught fire when it was docked at the Greek port of Elefsis.

The 1944 built Evgenia P a RoPax ferry reportedly burst into flames when it was docked at the ”Kronos” area of the port of Elefsis.

Three firefighting tugs of the local fire service and a patrol boat from Hellenic Coast Guard completely put out the fire after several hours of struggle.  The fire is reported to have started in the aft area of the ship before it spread to the bridge and the accommodation areas.

The Elefsis Harbour Organisation placed a preventive anti-pollution floating barrier around the burnt boat.  There have been no reports of injuries or pollution.
