OCI global to supply bio-methanol in Rotterdam, highlights an Argus Media news source.

Dutch supplier OCI Global

Dutch supplier OCI Global has signed an agreement to supply bio-methanol to Singapore’s X-Press Feeders for its dual-fuelled methanol fleet in the port of Rotterdam starting next year.

The agreement means X-Press Feeders will be Europe’s first common feeder operator running methanol-powered vessels on the sea. OCI also confirmed plans to expand its bio-methanol supply to other ports globally.

IMO’s decision

The announcement follows the IMO’s decision to adopt a revised greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions strategy at the 80th meeting of its Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 80) [in London]( https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2466783). The revised strategy aims to achieve net zero emissions by or around 2050.

Argus assessed the price of bio-methanol this month at an average of $2,674.71/t, down by $39.25/t from June’s average.
