On October 9, a bulk carrier collided with three anchored vessels which resulted in the sinking of the vessels and four people being missing.
What happened?
The Panamax bulk carrier ‘Guo Yuan 1’ collided with three anchored river ships at Zhenjiang anchorage, Yangtze river. The three river ships were anchored together and the impact of the collision sank them.
Four people missing
The nine people onboard the three vessels fell into the water and five of them have been rescued until now. However, four people were reported to be missing and the search is on to locate the missing people.
Investigation launched
An investigation has been initiated to determine the sequence of events leading to the collision. The bulk carrier ‘Guo Yuan 1’ has been detained by the local authorities.
