SAAM Terminals In Chile Achieve Significant Carbon Emissions Milestone

For the first time, all of SAAM Terminals’ ports in Chile have earned Huella Chile emissions reduction seals, according to SAAM Terminals. Notably, San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI) achieved the program’s highest recognition, the Seal of Excellence, for its outstanding carbon management efforts in 2023.

Achieving Sustainability Goals

All five of SAAM’s terminals in Chile—Antofagasta, Iquique, San Antonio, San Vicente, and Corral—have successfully quantified and reduced their carbon emissions, reflecting the company’s strong commitment to sustainable operations.

Recognition for San Antonio Terminal Internacional

STI, the country’s most critical terminal, earned the prestigious Seal of Excellence. This recognition highlights its leading role in carbon management, setting an example for other terminals to follow.

Impact on Emissions Reduction

Collectively, SAAM’s Chilean terminals reduced their carbon emissions by 9,408 metric tons, equivalent to the CO2 absorption of more than 445,000 mature trees, further demonstrating the company’s progress in its sustainability journey.
