Recently, in Shanghai, SAIC Group’s logistics arm, Anji Logistics, launched the world’s largest ocean-going roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel, named Anji Ansheng. With a massive capacity of 9,500 car spaces, this vessel sets sail for Europe on its maiden voyage. The move strengthens SAIC’s international logistics capacity and supports the company’s aggressive global expansion strategy for its automotive brands.
Anji Ansheng A Game-Changer for China’s Auto Export Logistics
The Anji Ansheng is a significant milestone for China’s maritime logistics sector. With its launch, Anji Logistics now operates a 35-vessel strong fleet, including 15 international trade ships. The company aims to increase this number to 22 by 2026, expanding its global coverage to Western Europe, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and more. This enhanced capability is expected to ease export capacity bottlenecks and ensure smoother international deliveries as SAIC continues to dominate China’s auto exports.
SAIC’s Global Vision: Innovation and Expansion
SAIC Motor has positioned itself as a global leader in automotive exports, having delivered over 5.5 million vehicles overseas by the end of 2024. It has topped China’s export charts for eight consecutive years and exceeded one million overseas sales annually for the past three years. Looking ahead, SAIC plans to launch 17 new models globally within three years, incorporating advanced HEV hybrid technologies. Meanwhile, its MG brand has cemented its global presence with sales surpassing 5 million units, ranking among the top ten brands in over 20 countries.
