In January, the Society initiated a crisis appeal, shedding light on the hidden costs of the crisis, particularly addressing the challenges faced by seafarers navigating the Red Sea and those redirected around the Horn of Africa.
Boet Van Schalkwyk, part of the global team of highly trained responders involved in the Ship Connect program, emphasised the stress and anxiety experienced by seafarers.
It’s the stress of not knowing that has really pushed up anxiety levels and affected everybody on the vessel.
