Samsung Heavy Industries Co., a major South Korean shipbuilder, has clinched a deal worth 426 billion won (US$378 million) to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, says The Medi Telegraph.
What is in the contract?
The contract, with a North American shipper, calls for Samsung Heavy to deliver the vessels by Aug. 15, 2021, the company said in a regulatory filing.
With the latest contract, Samsung Heavy has clinched deals valued at a combined $6.1 billion so far this year to build 48 ships, including 17 LNG carriers. The shipbuilder aims to secure $8.2 billion worth of orders for the year.
