Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said Tuesday it has received an order worth 743 billion won (US$500 million) to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for a shipper in the Oceania region.
Strengthening Orderbook to $7.4 Billion
The LNG carriers will be delivered gradually to the unidentified client by March 2029, the company said in a press release.
With the latest deal, Samsung Heavy has secured $7.4 billion worth of orders this year, accounting for about 76 percent of its annual order target of $9.8 billion.
As of Tuesday, the company had an order backlog of 132 vessels valued at $28.3 billion, which is expected to keep its shipyard in Geoje, about 330 kilometers southeast of Seoul, busy for the next three years.
