144

In a pivotal moment aligning with the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), Saudi Arabia has achieved unprecedented success in UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) for Q4 2023. Marking a significant improvement from Q3, the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) secured a remarkable score of 79.01 points, underscoring the nation’s enhanced competitiveness and global standing.

Infrastructure Advancements and Strategic Collaborations

Saudi Arabia’s remarkable ascent in the LSCI is attributed to strategic measures taken in 2023. Collaborative efforts with leading shipping liners led to the introduction of 28 new cargo services, fostering increased connectivity. Furthermore, advancements in container handling propelled Saudi Arabia from the 24th to the 16th position in the Lloyd’s List One Hundred Ports rankings. The Kingdom’s leap of 17 places in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) further solidifies its commitment to fostering a robust and efficient maritime trade environment.
