SCCT Expansion Bolstered by Advanced Crane Delivery
The Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT), operated by APM Terminals, achieved a major milestone in its expansion project with the arrival of the vessel Zhenhua 35 in November. This shipment included cutting-edge equipment, such as four Super Post-Panamax ZPMC Quay Cranes with a 72-meter boom outreach and the capacity to handle twin 65-ton containers and heavy lifts up to 100 tons. Also delivered were six electric Rubber-Tyred Gantry (eRTG) cranes featuring advanced automation and remote-control systems.
Commitment to Growth and Innovation
SCCT CEO Keld Mosgaard Christensen expressed enthusiasm for the new equipment, stating that these upgrades are pivotal to enhancing operational capabilities and preparing for the evolving demands of global trade. He emphasized the investment as a symbol of SCCT’s vision for growth and innovation.
A Boost to Local Economies and Trade
Project Director Pillarisetti Ravindranath highlighted the expansion’s impact on supporting SCCT’s critical role in facilitating global trade. With the dedication of approximately 3,500 terminal professionals and collaboration with local partners, SCCT is strengthening its efficiency, reliability, and contribution to local and regional economies.
This milestone reaffirms SCCT’s commitment to serving customers, stakeholders, and communities while driving progress in the global shipping industry.
