Spain will receive six cargoes totalling more than 7.3 TWh (0.65bcm) of LNG this week, while imports of the liquid fuel in September are set to treble year on year, reports Montel News.
The data on the fuel imports was compiled from TSO Enagas.
Cargoes at Barcelona and Reganosa
This week’s total compares to 5.6 TWh delivered last week from six cargoes, which docked at the Barcelona, Cartagena, Huelva, Bilbao and Reganosa terminals.
Spain was set to see around 26.6 TWh of LNG imports in August, down 6% from July’s 28.3 TWh – which was a 10-year high – but still 90% above the level a year ago.
September surge
Spain was set to import 27.6 TWh of LNG in September, up 4% from August and almost triple the level a year ago.
That will lead LNG stocks to end next month 79% full, 1 percentage point less than in August, but 48 points up year on year, while underground storage should end the month 86% full, 14 points higher than a year ago.
Underground storage injections were expected to total more than 1.8 TWh in September, 29% more than a year ago.
Total demand, including trucked supplies, were expected to jump more than 27% year on year in September to 33.8 TWh, amid record levels of gas-fired generation, said the TSO.
Below is the TSO’s scheduled gas plan for September, updated at 12:30 CET:
Spain | ||||||||
Month: | LNG intake (TWh) | Weekly change | Net pipeline imports (TWh) | Weekly change | Storage/other (TWh) | Weekly change | Total supply (TWh) | Total demand (TWh) |
September | 22.5 | – | 12 | – | -1.8 | – | 32.9 | 33.8 |
1bcm of regasified natural gas = 11.16 TWh.
