SCI to Acquire Two Second-hand VLGCs for Fleet Expansion

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to purchase two second-hand Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), each boasting a cargo capacity of around 82,000 CBM. This agreement was finalised on July 4, 2025, as part of SCI’s strategic initiative to bolster its fleet for the financial year 2025–26, reports PSU Connect.

Fleet Induction Expected This Quarter

As per SCI’s official announcement under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, these vessels are anticipated to join the fleet within the current quarter of FY 2025–26.

Strengthening Global Presence

This acquisition is designed to boost SCI’s overall tonnage and strengthen its foothold in the global gas transportation market.
