In February 2025, the container shipping industry witnessed the launch of two new alliances: the Gemini Cooperation and the Premier Alliance. These alliances debuted with remarkable schedule reliability, as reported by Sea-Intelligence.
Initial Performance Metrics
- Gemini Cooperation: Achieved a schedule reliability of 94.0% in origin ports.
- MSC: Recorded a reliability of 79.6%.
- Premier Alliance: Attained a 60.4% reliability rate.
In comparison, the existing Ocean Alliance reported a schedule reliability of 54.1%, while the outgoing THE Alliance and 2M scored 45.3% and 44.2%, respectively.
It’s important to note that these figures represent the early stages of the new alliances’ network implementations. A comprehensive evaluation of their performance will be feasible once their networks are fully operational by July 2025. Nonetheless, these initial results indicate a promising start for the new collaborations in enhancing schedule reliability within the container shipping sector.
