Consistent Improvements
According to Sea-Intelligence’s Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, global schedule reliability improved to 64.4% in September 2023. As the report itself is quite comprehensive and covers schedule reliability across 34 different trade lanes and 60+ carriers, this press release will only cover the global highlights from the full report.
Global schedule reliability increased by 1.2 percentage points M/M in September 2023 to 64.4%. Barring the increase in May, schedule reliability has been ranging within 2 percentage points since March 2023.
Notable Trends
In September 2023, global schedule reliability reached 71.3% for Maersk and Hamburg Süd, the most reliable top-14 carriers. MSC followed closely with 69.8% reliability, along with six others in the 60%-70% range. However, HMM was the only carrier below 50% at 45.9%.
Notably, 10 of the top 14 carriers saw M/M increases in September 2023, with PIL recording the largest boost of 7.3 percentage points. On a Y/Y basis, 13 of the 14 carriers achieved double-digit improvements, with Hamburg Süd leading the way with a remarkable 26.8 percentage point increase.
