  • Sea Sunday service will involve people from all over the global Mission to Seafarers Family so that people can see seafarers that their sacrifices are appreciated and their work applauded.

A recently published article in the Mission to Seafarers reveals that it is to celebrate the glory of the seafarers on Sunday 12th July 2020.

Message from the secretary general

Revd Canon Andrew Wright, Secretary General of The Mission to Seafarers, said “This Sea Sunday is special. On our 164th anniversary, we are enabling all seafarers, and those connected to the community, to come together as an extended Mission to Seafarers’ family. From London to Lagos and Manila to Melbourne, we believe there is power when we come together as a global community, united in gratitude and hope for the future.”

Invitation to acknowledge the heroes

Join our global family in acknowledging the heroes who keep our global economy afloat. Connect with us online to see faces from all over the world join in celebration of seafarers.

We are encouraging all of you to publicly celebrate seafarers and thank them for all that they have done to keep to world trading during the lockdown. Without them and their skills we would be in a vastly different situation to where we are now.

Our Sea Sunday service will involve people from all over the global Mission to Seafarers Family so that we can show seafarers that their sacrifices are appreciated and their work applauded.

“Throughout this challenging time, our chaplains and port centres across the world have been adapting their usual activities to safely meet the needs of seafarers. Connecting this Sea Sunday to everyone around the globe shows our gratitude to these unsung heroes.” he said.
