A Russian crewman died on board a cargo ship that was about to dock at Stanford-le-Hope superport.London Coastguard received a call regarding an unconscious seafarer on board a cargo vessel.  It immediately launched charity’s lifeboat.   Upon life boat’s arrival, the casualty care kit and lifeboat crew were transferred to the ship, who attended the unconscious seafarer.

Volunteer lifeboat crew member Tony Jenkins from Gravesend RNLI said: ‘When we arrived on the scene we saw the man had collapsed on the deck at the back of the ship and his colleagues were already carrying out chest compressions on him. We then attached a defibrillator to the casualty.’  The lifeboat and ship’s crews continued with CPR for around 40 minutes.

The East of England Ambulance service including its HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) arrived at the scene once the ship was docked at the port.  They spent 30 minutes to save the life of the crewman. But despite all efforts, the Russian crew man died.
