Shipping firm Seaspan Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Corp has annulled an order announced in May this year for four 7,700 TEU dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) containership newbuildings, says an article published on Manifold Times.

Contracts not  fulfilled

“Due to certain conditions in the contracts not being fulfilled by the counterparty, the contracts have become null and void,” Seaspan said in a brief statement.

“Seaspan has notified the relevant parties and has reserved its rights to claim against the counterparty in relation to the contracts.”

Long-term charters

No names were mentioned in the statement on who the counterparty was for the contracts.

The ships were reportedly due for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of 2021 and were scheduled to enter into long-term charters once delivered.
