Seatankers has ordered two more VLCCs from DSIC in Tianjin for delivery in late 2027 and early 2028, reports Seatrade Maritime.
Seatankers’ VLCC Orders
With the addition of the new order, Seatankers has ordered eight VLCCs from DISC, which will be equipped with desulphurization devices.
Newbuilding orders for tankers, especially VLCCs, have seen an upturn this year as markets have continued to remain strong, and far more of these orders have gone to Chinese yards than they have in the past.
DSIC’s Market Position
DSIC is a leading Chinese yard in the VLCC construction market, having delivered 117 VLCCs to both domestic and foreign clients. The shipyard currently holds 15% of the global market’s VLCC newbuilding orders.
