Seatrium and ITE Launch Digital Learning Lab, Pledge S$1.2 Million

Seatrium Limited and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have joined forces to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Digital Learning Lab designed to address the growing need for digital skills in the Marine & Offshore (M&O) Energy industry. This collaboration is further reinforced by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that aims to attract a new generation of talent while aligning educational programs with industry demands, reports Seatrium.

A Hub for Innovation and Skill Development

The ITE-Seatrium Digital Learning Lab will serve as an innovation and educational hub for the M&O Energy sector, featuring a dynamic environment for hands-on training. The lab will focus on developing skills in digital technologies such as digital twin technologies, AI, and 5G marine applications, offering real-life problem-solving experiences.

Comprehensive Workforce Development

Through this initiative, the partners aim to provide valuable learning opportunities for students, including Higher Nitec and Work-Study Diploma trainees, and offer industry attachments both locally and abroad. ITE will also provide certification courses to upskill Seatrium’s workforce in areas such as robotics, sustainability, and advanced digital technologies. The objective is to train up to 4,500 students and workforce members by 2027.

Financial Commitment for Inclusive Education

Seatrium has committed S$1.2 million over four years to the ITE Education Fund, aiming to support students from low-income families. This initiative will benefit over 300 ITE students annually in Engineering, Electronics, and Infocomm Technology courses, demonstrating Seatrium’s commitment to equal educational opportunities.

Vision for a Digital and Sustainable Future

Chris Ong, CEO of Seatrium, expressed that the Digital Learning Lab is a key step toward preparing the workforce for future challenges in the M&O industry. The focus will be on fostering innovation, adaptability, and sustainability.

ITE’s CEO, Low Khah Gek, emphasized that the collaboration would not only enhance skills education but also ensure that students and Seatrium’s workforce are equipped with the necessary expertise to thrive in a technology-centric M&O sector.

This collaboration between Seatrium and ITE is an important step in building a digitally proficient workforce ready to lead the M&O sector toward a sustainable and technology-driven future.
