Seatrium Secures Landmark Contract for Deepwater Floating Production Unit

Seatrium Limited (Seatrium, or the Group) is pleased to announce that it has executed a contract with BP Exploration and Production Inc (bp) for EPC work on the Kaskida Floating Production Unit (FPU) project in the US Gulf of Mexico, reports Seatrium.

About the Kaskida Project

The Kaskida project is a greenfield development located about 250 miles southwest of New Orleans, in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico. The project includes:

  1. Design: A single topside module supported by a four-column semi-submersible hull.
    Subsea Production: Wells located at a water depth of approximately 6,000 feet.
  2. Capacity: The FPU will process 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day during the first phase of development, which will be produced from six wells.

Advanced Engineering and Construction Approach

The topsides for the Kaskida FPU will be integrated and lifted using Seatrium’s Goliath twin cranes, which boast a combined lifting capacity of 30,000 tonnes. These state-of-the-art cranes enable Seatrium’s innovative approach to assembling topsides at ground level, ensuring:

  1. Enhanced safety by minimizing risks during assembly.
  2. Improved project efficiency and optimum readiness for installation.
