Second Annual Experiential Yachting Forum Takes Place In Dubai

After writing about boats of all sizes for pretty much all of my adult life, one of the many cool things I’ve learned about the yachting “industry” is that it’s way, way more than just a stone-cold-multi-billion-dollar “industry.” 

Experiential yachting forum

Sure, all of the superyachts I cover cost incomprehensible amounts to build, own and maintain. And thankfully, my beloved yachting “industry” that is constantly working to make yachting more exclusive and more accessible all the time.

But, the truth is, for nearly every boat lover I know (who owns the smallest sailing dinghy up to a fleet of superyachts and a private island to dock them!), being able to experience the freedom, relaxation, fun, connections with family and friends, and privacy that only a boat can provide always makes the cost worthwhile.

Yachting a positive difference

That’s why I’m not surprised the second annual Experiential Yachting Forum that took place in Dubai recently was such a success. 

It was specifically designed to highlight how the experience of yachting can make a positive difference in the world and featured sponsors such as Oceanco, Sunreef Yachts, Four Seasons Yachts, Space Perspective and Islamic Coin that want to do the same

Elevating human potential

“This forum was created with a mission to elevate human potential through yachting and to change the perception of yachting by identifying a new niche for multifunctional superyachts and introduce the concept of ‘holistic yachting’ for healthier yachting operations and lifestyle.” says Experiential Yachting Forum founder Maria Alekseenko Magan.

Neuroscientific experiment results

Personally, I was fascinated to learn the results of a neuroscientific experiment that was initiated by Maria Alekseenko Magan in collaboration with Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting’s Claudia Batthyany to study how the rolling of sea waves affects brain waves during meditation aboard a small watercraft at sea compared to the same meditation on land.

The initiative also attracted the attention of Monaco-based institutions related to science and healthcare including a partnership with AERA.Health that’s designed to provide the yachting industry with solutions related to longevity and preventive healthcare on yachts.

Yachting plays an important role
