Hapag-Lloyd’s Strategy 2030 is a continuation of its successful Strategy 2023, emphasizing customer satisfaction, financial stability, and market expansion in key growth regions such as India and Africa. This new strategy is the result of in-depth market analysis, customer insight, and internal collaboration. It prioritizes environmental responsibility and innovative digital solutions while remaining dedicated to outstanding customer service.

Five Core Pillars of Strategy 2030

1. Pure Play Plus: The company invests in its fleet and service network, expanding its terminal portfolio with a new Terminal and Infrastructure Division and aiming to increase its share of inland transport to support its core business.

2. Top 5 Global Container Line: Hapag-Lloyd focuses on strategic growth initiatives to establish itself as a leading global container line and reinforce its presence in key markets including Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific trade.

3. Undisputed Number One for Quality: The company aims for an on-time delivery rate of over 80% and strengthens operational excellence, customer care, and ease of doing business. The Gemini Cooperation with Maersk is a significant step towards this goal.

4. Sustainability Driver: Hapag-Lloyd is committed to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by around one-third by 2030 and achieving net-zero fleet operations by 2045. Measures include fleet modernization, new propulsion technologies, and alternative fuels.

5. Top Performing Carrier: The company leverages cutting-edge IT solutions, increases productivity, and focuses on performance and cost optimization. It also invests in workforce development and talent attraction.

Hapag-Lloyd’s Strategy 2030 positions the company to thrive and lead in the dynamic maritime industry, enhancing the value it delivers to customers and partners while contributing to the decarbonization of the industry. CEO Rolf Habben Jansen describes it as their “most ambitious strategy to date.”
