What happened?
The seven passengers were injured after their vessel was hit by a giant rogue wave. The wave hit the bow of the vessel ‘Trollfjord’ and the impact of the wave threw the passengers from their feet.
The glass vessels were broken and few cabins were flooded during the incident.
Hit by storm:
The storm had reportedly hit the ship when it sailed over the Hustadvika Sea between Kristiansund and Molde.
The ship had sailed from Kristiansund earlier in the evening and was heading south towards the neighboring town of Molde in Møre og Romsdal.
Passengers taken to hospital:
The seven passengers were rushed to the hospital at Molde but none suffered serious injuries.
Six passengers were driven to Ålesund and boarded the ship there. The seventh left in Molde.
Ship checked for any damages:
The ship was docked in Molde for several hours to check for any damages to the vessel. The vessel proceeded towards Ålesund and then southwards directly towards Bergen due to the adverse sea conditions on a more sheltered route.
