Shanghai Port International Group Reports Strong Growth in Revenue

Shanghai Port International Group (SIPG) reported a revenue of RMB 19.84 billion ($2.79 billion) for the first half of the year, marking a 23.13% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s net profit reached RMB 8.4 billion, reflecting a growth of 14.85%.

During this period, Shanghai Port achieved a total cargo throughput of 293 million tonnes, which represents a 6.2% rise year-on-year. Of this, bulk cargo throughput accounted for 44.12 million tonnes, growing by 2.5%. The port’s container volume also saw significant growth, reaching 25.51 million TEU, a 7.5% increase from the previous year. Notably, the Yangshan terminal handled 13.08 million TEU, contributing 51.3% of Shanghai port’s total container volume.

Shanghai port’s sea-rail combined cargo volume experienced an impressive 49.5% surge in the first half of the year, driven by the expansion of business in the Yangtze River market.
