Shell Marine to Provide Lubricants for Van Oord Vessels

The Shell Marine has signed an agreement to provide lubricants for all the vessels operated by global maritime contractor Van Oord.

Five year deal

The deal which has been signed for a period of five years and the company will supply its Marine Integrated Lubrication and Expert Solutions (MILES). This agreement will aim to optimise customer benefits by combining the supply of high-performance lubricants with various tailor-made technical services, logistics and delivery options.

The company Van Oord will also be benefited from Shell Marine LubeMonitor 4T programme that helps reduce lubrication feed rates and oil consumption. It will also receive support from Shell Marine’s global team of field-based engineers as and when required.

The team will assist in lubrication surveys, vessel evaluations and in-depth technical and application support, among others.

A step forward

Van Oord Ship Management Department staff director Jaap de Jong said, “We must have 100% reliability and optimum efficiency wherever our vessels are operating, and we must also be able to demonstrate the sustainability of our operations to meet our own goals of corporate social responsibility and those of the authorities we work with”.

Shell Marine Global marketing manager Marcus Schaerer said, “Shell Marine is gaining global recognition for its MILES programme, with uptake accelerating around the world. Van Oord is a long-standing Shell Marine customer.”

He further added, “It also underlines the value and reassurance that MILES can provide maritime businesses involved in complex projects that offer little leeway for any disruption to vessel uptime”.
