Ship Catches Fire in Polish Shipyard

2098

On Friday, a ship  caught fire at the Gryfia Marine Ship Repair Yard in Szczecin, north western Poland.

Seven fire brigade divisions rushed to the spot and fought the fire for several hours to bring the fire under control.

The firefighters were impaired by the low visibility due to thick smoke, and were wearing oxygen masks to protect themselves from suffocation due to smoke.

The Ship was all set to return after repairs from the yard, just when the disaster struck.  There were no reports of injuries or oil spill reported from the incident.  The reason for what caused the fire is still under investigation.
