A recent news article published in the Market Research Telecast states that there is a shocking ship collision in China produced a huge oil spill in the Yellow Sea.

Tanker A Symphony

The ship crash involving the tanker A Symphony with the Liberian flag and the bulk carrier Sea Justice occurred at 08.50.

“The force of the impact on the forward port side caused a breach in the cargo tanks and ballast tanks, with an amount of oil being lost to the ocean,” said A Symphony executive Goodwood Ship Management, adding that the entire crew was counted and there were no injuries.

The extent of the spill was unclear so far, as operations to contain it were hampered by fog.

“The oil spill occurred after a collision between two vessels,” said an official with China’s Shandong Maritime Security Administration, on condition of anonymity, confirming that no one was injured.

“The dense fog, which has hampered navigation off the coast of Qingdao since yesterday, it caused low visibility at the time of the collision, “ Goodwood said.

Emergency procedures were put in place

In turn, he maintained that emergency procedures were put in place on board the vessel to limit any spill and the vessel’s oil spill response team was mobilized.

“The incident was reported to local authorities and a clean-up operation was started, although it was hampered by the port closure due to zero visibility,” Goodwood said.

The Shandong Maritime Safety Administration has ordered other ships to stay at least 10 nautical miles of the A Symphony, but did not provide details on the amount of oil that leaked.

Details of A Symphony

The A Symphony, a Suezmax tanker, was last seen near the port of Qingdao, shipping data was shown live via satellite video across the region. It made a stopover near Malacca, on the Malaysian peninsula, earlier this month, where it loaded fully with oil and sailed for China, the data showed.

The 272-meter-long and 46-meter-wide tanker was sold in May 2019 to its new owners Symphony Shipholding SA and NGM Energy, who could not be reached for additional information.
