Reports of a cargo ship smashing into Seaham Pier turned out to be a false.
On Sunday a picture showing a vessel crashing into the Seaham pier was posted on Twitter. This information is proved wrong by the North East Coastguard.
Reports say that the picture was taken from The Lookout, a cafe opposite the pier. On enquiry, the owner of the cafe explained that the picture was just taken at a misleading angle and the pier is perfectly fine in its position. He added that, “someone has just started a joke rumour.”
The Northeast Coast Guard has confirmed that the picture released is not true and the coast guard has not received any distress signal.
