On May 4, a vessel ran aground on the Parana river and blocking the passage resulting, in heavy traffic snarls.
What happened?
A cargo ship loaded with 42,500 tonnes of soybean meal ran aground on the Parana River and blocked the passage downriver towards the Atlantic Ocean. The vessel was enroute to Australia and was situated 5 kilometers south of Rosario when the incident occurred.
Ships delayed
Around sixty ships faced delays due to the grounding on the river and blocked passage. All the shipments are being held at the port due to the blocked passageway.
A tugboat ‘Pilatus Venture’ has been deployed to remove the vessel and clear the blockage so as to facilitate the ship’s movements.
