Shipwreck with 3,800 Tonnes of Magnesium Oxide Raised Out of Waters

On July 26, the Barbados-flagged “M/V Fluvius Tamar” that sank on Jan 13 in British waters north of Dunkirk was raised out of the waters.

What happened?

The UK Coastguard coordinated an extensive search and rescue effort overnight after the 90-meter cargo ship sank in the North Sea approximately 35 nautical miles northeast of Ramsgate, England and helped in raising it out of the waters.

Ship abandoned:

All seven crew members were rescued safely after abandoning ship in the dark.

The ship was carrying 3,800 tonnes of Magnesium oxide and 80 cubic meters of diesel fuel, at the time of sinking.

Wreck towed:

The wreckage of the ship was towed to Rotterdam in the evening of July 26, where it will be broken up.
