ABS has awarded Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) a Product Design Assessment (PDA) certificate for its smart condition-based maintenance system, SCBM. The certification marks an important step in advancing digital innovation and smart technologies aimed at improving vessel performance, safety, and maintenance efficiency.
SCBM Recognised Under ABS SMART (MHM) Tier 2 Standards
The SCBM solution has received the SMART (Machinery Health Monitoring) Tier 2 PDA from ABS, demonstrating that it meets the functional and system requirements outlined in the ABS Guide for Smart Functions for Marine Vessels and Offshore Units.
This recognition affirms the system’s compliance with ABS’ rigorous criteria for next-generation technologies designed to strengthen machinery and structural health monitoring, asset efficiency, and operational performance. It also reflects SHI’s continued commitment to integrating advanced analytics and intelligent systems into modern vessel operations.
AI-Driven Diagnostics for Predictive and Condition-Based Maintenance
SCBM is SHI’s smart ship platform that uses real-time data and artificial intelligence to detect anomalies, assess equipment health, and perform machinery diagnostics.
