Silversea takes delivery of Silver Ray
The ship, Silver Ray, is equipped with an LNG dual-fuelled engine, a spokesperson from Meyer Werft told ENGINE.
The 54,700-dwt ship is also shore power-enabled, allowing it to shut down its generators and plug into onshore energy supply.
As part of its maiden voyage, Silver Ray will sail from the Portuguese port of Lisbon on 15 June and operate in the Mediterranean. It will then cross the Atlantic Ocean, towards the Americas by the end of the year.
This is the second ship in Silversea’s Nova Class series of vessels, which operates on an LNG dual-fuelled engine. Earlier, Silversea launched the Silver Nova, which currently operates on LNG. Silver Nova has bunkered LNG from Port Everglades and Gibraltar since it began operations in August last year.
