  • Singapore’s bunker fuel sales rose both on the month and year in July, in line with increased demand from traders and vessel owners.
  • Bunker sales totaled 4.5mn t in July, up by 9.6pc on the year and by 15pc on the month.
  • The rise was in response to stronger demand during the month for bunkering from vessel owners.

Bunker sales rise with demand

Singapore’s bio-blended bunker sales rose by 2% in July, following three months of decline.

In July, most of the 49,000 mt of bio-blended bunkers sold were VLSFO blended with a bio component, typically around 24% in Singapore.

Bio-HSFO sales doubled in July and accounted for nearly 13% of the total bio-blended bunker sales in Singapore. Total biofuel bunker sales for the first seven months of this year reached 337,000 mt, a significant increase of 44% from approximately 234,000 mt sold during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, LNG sales dropped by 16% in July after growing for two consecutive months. Around 1,400 mt/day of LNG was sold in July, down from 1,700 mt/day in June.

No methanol sales have been recorded since May.
