Singapore-Bound Ferry Collides with Tanker Near Southern Islands; All Passengers Evacuated Safely

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) confirmed that a passenger ferry traveling from Batam to Singapore collided with a tanker on 10 November 2025 in the waters near Singapore’s Southern Islands.

The ferry was carrying 165 passengers and 7 crew members when the incident occurred around 5 p.m. local time. The collision caused minor damage to the vessel’s bow above the waterline, but it remained stable and afloat. No injuries or oil spills were reported.

MPA dispatched a patrol craft to assist and escorted the ferry back to HarbourFront Centre terminal, where all passengers and crew safely disembarked.

Initial accounts suggest the ferry made a sudden maneuver before a loud impact was felt, leading to a brief loss of propulsion. Authorities from Singapore and Indonesia have begun a joint investigation to determine the circumstances of the collision, including navigational and traffic factors.
