Singapore Conventional Bunker Records Surge In Sales

More vessels arriving for bunkers and higher HSFO sales pushed the port’s total bunker sales higher in July, reports Engine Online.

Change In Sales

Changes in bunker sales from June to July:

  • Total sales up 402,000 mt to 4.58 million mt
  • VLSFO sales up 155,000 mt to 2.49 million mt
  • HSFO sales up 223,000 mt to 1.78 million mt
  • MGO sales up 24,000 mt to 311,000 mt

Singapore’s sales of HSFO, MGO, and VLSFO increased by 14%, 8%, and 7%, respectively, in July.

A total of 3,557 vessels were bunkered in the Southeast Asian bunker hub during the month, a notable rise of 204 from 3,353 in June, according to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. The average stem size increased slightly by 45 mt, reaching 1,287 mt in July.

Higher Than Last Year

Additionally, total bunker sales for the first seven months of the year were 6% higher compared to the same period last year.

Fuel grade share of total sales in July (compared to year to date):

  • 54% VLSFO (56% YTD)
  • 39% HSFO (37% YTD)
  • 7% MGO (7% YTD)
