Singapore saw a boost in port activity in October 2025, with an uptick in vessel arrivals, container handling, and cargo volumes, as reported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), reports Port News.
Vessel Arrivals and Ship Calls on the Rise
Vessel arrivals jumped by 6.6% compared to last year, totalling 280.94 million gross tonnes, while the number of ship calls increased by 7.7%, reaching 11,552.
Container Throughput Grows by 9 Percent
Container handling experienced a solid growth of 9.2%, hitting 3.83 million TEUs, which indicates a steady demand and robust regional transhipment activity. Total cargo volumes rose by 5.4%, reaching 53.07 million tonnes, driven by increased trade flows.
Bunker Sales Dip Slightly
Bunker sales saw a slight decrease, with total marine fuel deliveries down by 1.2% year-on-year to 4.82 million tonnes. Here’s the breakdown:
- 4,694,000 tonnes of conventional fuels
- 63,000 tonnes of biofuels
- 61,000 tonnes of LNG
