- Some 4.07 million metric tonnes (mt) of marine fuel were sold in the world’s biggest bunker port last month – marginally down on the 4.17 million mt recorded in August 2020.
- Last month’s total was also slightly down on the 4.06 million mt of bunker sales that was registered in July.
- Sales of low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) 380, which accounts for around half of all marine fuel sold in the Port of Singapore, stood at 1.99 million mt.
A recent news published in Bunker Spot by Rhys Berry states that Singapore sees marginal Y-O-Y in marine fuel sales.
978,400 mt of marine fuel oil (MFO)
Some 978,400 mt of marine fuel oil (MFO) 380, which is only permitted to be used by vessels equipped with scrubbers, was sold in August – 6,700 mt more than the 971,700 mt sold in the same month in 2020 but 5,600 mt down on the 984,00 mt recorded in July.
76,200 mt of MFO 500 sales
Elsewhere, the 76,200 mt of MFO 500 sales last month represented the highest monthly total since October 2020. Sales of low sulphur marine gasoil (290,000 mt) rose for a second successive month.
A total of 33,399,400 mt of marine fuel was sold during the first eight months of 2021.
In comparison, during the same period in 2020, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore recorded 32,911,000 mt of bunker sales.
3,191 calls for bunkers
The 3,191 calls for bunkers last month represented the lowest monthly figure since June 2020.
Total vessel calls for August (7,178) rose 3.2% year-on-year but slipped 0.9% month-on-month.
