Two South China-based shipyards of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) are to build 14 vessels for three international owners, reports Seatrade Maritime News.
Huangpu Wenchong and Guangzhou International shipyards bag 14 newbuilds
The new orders at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and Guangzhou International Shipyard, comprise container ships, heavy lift vessels, and chemical/product tankers.
Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding secured two 4,300 teu container ships from Turkish company Arkas Holding and four plus four 13,500 tonnes multi-purpose heavy lift vessels from Hamburg-based Hammonia.
The 4,300 teu boxship is a major mid-size containership production developed by Huangpu Wenchong, and the shipyard has already bagged fourteen vessel orders of this type in hand.
Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding is the key heavy lift vessel construction base under CSSC, the order signed with Hammonia well demonstrates the shipyard’s leading position in global heavy lift vessel construction market, commented Huangpu Wenchong.
Guangzhou International Shipyard also inked contract for a quartet of 49,500dwt chemical/product tankers with Leonhardt & Blumberg. Measuring in 183 metres long and 32 metres wide, the methanol-ready dual-fuelled tankers are featuring advanced technologies in energy consumption, environment protection and reliability.
