The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to enhance collaboration on marina development, marine vessel maintenance centers, beach projects, and coastal tourism. This agreement aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a premier coastal tourism destination.
Key Highlights of the MoU
The agreement was signed by SRSA CEO Mohammed Al-Nasser and Deputy Minister for Licensing and Project Coordination Mohammed Al-Mulhim.
1. Establishment and Development of Marinas
- SRSA will oversee the regulations, standards, and operational guidelines for marinas.
- The two entities will collaborate on processing applications for marina development through the Balady platform.
- Marinas—both on land and at sea—will adhere to the Saudi Building Code and the Marina Planning and Design Code.
- Licensing procedures for marine fuel stations will also be streamlined.
2. Marine Vessel Repair and Maintenance Centers
- The MoU includes the development, licensing, and operation of marine vessel maintenance centers.
- A regulatory framework will be established to ensure high standards of service and environmental protection.
3. Beach Development and Coastal Tourism
- SRSA and the Ministry will work together to develop and operate beaches, ensuring compliance with environmental and tourism regulations.
- The agreement includes licensing for commercial and operational activities related to beach areas.
4. Smart Marina Initiatives and Digital Integration
- The MoU encourages the adoption of smart marina technologies, contributing to livable coastal cities and enhancing the quality of life.
- The partnership will focus on coastal monitoring, digital integration, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
5. Investment and Workforce Development
- Both entities will identify investment opportunities and map tangible and intangible assets along the Red Sea coastline.
- The agreement also aims to support Saudi Arabia’s workforce in the municipal, housing, and coastal tourism sectors.
